Hi Kimberly, I am glad I finally can reach someone who is aware of this atrocious problem in using the Trial version. When I was on MS update screen I had not request SP2 to download and I never saw a screen appear to ask if I was ready to install anything. I went to the Nvidia site and downloaded their latest driver (5336) and it installed OK. I then followed the instructions to edit the XFConfig-4 file (change "nv" to "nvidia", added Load "glx"). Then entering startx results in the same hang. My system is an amd athlon and video is MX440 AGP.
